Mocha Frappuccino

Updated: Jul 9, 2020

Anyone that knows me, especially if you work with me, knows that I was addicted to Starbucks! It was no big deal for me to hit up the drive thru 5+ days a week for my morning Frappuccino. I am not sure what it was about them, but I loved them and I found them to be the perfect way to start off my day. However, when you really start looking at them and you see that a basic Venti Mocha Frappuccino (with soy milk and no whip or drizzle) has 460 calories, 300mg of sodium, 72g of carbs, 7g of protein and a whopping 69g of sugar! What I make now has only 357 calories, 236mg of sodium, 46g of carbs, 8g of sugar and a whopping 31g of plant strong protein! Theirs also costs about $6.50 vs ~$1.00 for mine (including the cup and straw). That's awesome! So much better for you and less than 1/6 the price!

Mocha Frappuccino Yield: One 24oz Frappuccino Recipe From: "KenBucks"

What you will need:

  • 1/4 tsp xanthan gum (this makes it super smooth and creamy)

  • 2 tbsp instant decaf coffee

  • 1 tbsp Hersey's cocoa powder

  • 4 tbsp monkfruit sugar

  • 1 tbsp flax seed

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

  • 1 scoop Orgain plant based protein powder

  • 1 cup WestSoy soy milk

  • 1.5 cups of ice

How to Make The Mocha Frappuccino:

  1. In a high speed blender, I use my Vitamix, add everything except the ice and blend on high for about a minute to get it all mixed well and to break down the seeds and the instant coffee grounds.

  2. With the blender off, add 1.5 cups of ice and then blend. On my Vitamix I use the "Frozen Dessert" setting.

  3. Add more ice if you desire it to be thicker or to have more in the end.

  4. Pour it into your cup and enjoy!

Optional: Add 1/2 of a banana for even more goodness!
